These are REALLY SIMPLE, VERY BASIC, OLD SCHOOL RECOVERY SUGGESTIONS! But, they are very important!


Like AA says “Keep It Simple”


REMEMBER THIS ACRONYM


H.A.L.T.


It stands for Hungry, Angry, Lonely, and Tired


When we allow ourselves to get Hungry, Angry, Lonely, or Tired, it wears down our defenses.

Basically, we run out of gas in our willpower tank.


You only have so much willpower. It refuels at night when you sleep, and getting at least 7 hours a night will significantly decrease your chances of relapse.


In early recovery, it’s very important to manage your willpower gasoline gauge! Staying sober is gonna use up pretty much all the willpower you have, so you don’t have much to spare.


Having a good support system, staying rested, and keeping yourself fed, will help you conserve your will power for what’s important (STAYING SOBER!).
