The Walking Dead

Many of you are familiar with the show The Walking Dead.  The zombie apocalypse may seem far fetched, but it might be closer to home than it seems.

Let’s examine what a zombie is…

Urban Defintion of a Zombie: A deceased human being who has partially returned to life due to indeterminable causes.

The brain retains base facilities, namely gross motor function. In its near-mindless state, it grasps no remains of emotion, personality, or sensation of pain. In rare cases, some of the reanimated have reflexively preformed routine activities from their past lives.

It’s mind boggling to watch an addicted loved one.  They look like your loved one, and sometimes they even go through the motions of things they use to do, but overall you get the sense they aren’t there anymore.  It’s like someone has taken over their body.

The scariest part of this whole thing is that our current culture is the perfect breeding ground for this disease.  Feeling a lack of connection is the biggest factor that makes an individual vulnerable, and the demands of today’s society make it very difficult to really connect the way humans are designed to connect.

Due to our technology, everybody over the age of 12 is pretty

much on call all the time.  It’s almost comical that most people spend ridiculous amounts of time on social media (trying to connect) but in reality are losing the ability to connect to the people right in front of them.

Social media is like the Cheetos of human connection.  Cheetos seem to be a food, they taste good, and can give you a full sensation, but they provide absolutely no nutritional value.

It’s the same with social media.  In fact, Cheetos often just make your body more hungry, as does social media.  We all need to understand connection is a nutrient that human beings can not live without.

Connection is the nutrient that can save us from addiction.
