Understanding the Addicton Mindset

Have you ever wondered how or why people continue addictive behavior even when it seems to be ruining their life?

In this video, we're going to go through the five-step circular addictive mindset thinking pattern.

  1. I'm not that bad or they're worse off than I am.

  2. I'm going to better.

  3. I can't help it. (feeling stuck)

  4. It's not my fault or it's all your fault.

  5. I hate myself.

The implication is that if we don't draw the line, our habits and circumstances will do it for us. When an addicted person gets to step five, they get really down on themselves and mad at themselves for being stuck in this cycle. The negative self-talk begins and then the cycle starts all over.
